Every chemical you add is stamped with the visit, the pool, the timestamp, and (if enabled) the tech's GPS location. That log is your defense if a customer ever disputes water chemistry or a chemical burn. A few habits make it useful instead of just present.
Log during the visit, not after
Enter chemicals as you dose them from the check-in screen. Waiting until check-out (or worse, the truck at the next stop) is when you forget an amount or copy last week's numbers. The check-in screen is the fastest path — one tap per chemical.
Use the presets
The first time you add a chemical (Chlor-tabs, liquid chlorine, muriatic acid, cal-hypo, etc.) it becomes a preset. Next visit, one tap adds the same chemical; you just adjust the amount. Presets sync per operator, so all your techs get the same list.
Amount + unit — never one without the other
The app requires both. If you tap "8" and leave the unit blank it prompts you before saving. This is on purpose — "8 chlorine" a year later doesn't defend anything; "8 oz liquid chlorine" does.
Photograph the reading
Chemistry test results should be logged as a reading (Free Chlorine 3.0 ppm, pH 7.4, TA 90 ppm, CYA 40 ppm). Take a photo of the test strip too — the photo is proof, the numbers are searchable.
Add a note when you deviate
If the pool is out of range and you dose more (or less) than usual, add a one-line note. "Algae bloom — shocked at 3x normal + brushed" turns into a defense if the customer's plaster shows spotting a month later.
What appears on the receipt
By default the customer receipt shows chemical names + amounts. Chemistry readings, photos, and notes stay on the internal record only. To show readings on receipts, turn on Settings → Receipts → Include chemistry readings.
